1. REGISTRATION

 

1. What does the registration amount include?

The registration amount includes:

• Transportation by bus from Lima to the bivouac

• Administration package,

• Bivouac

• Water during the participation of the event,

• Repatriation insurance (see article 20),

• Technical supervision of the organization,

• Medical assistance,

• Race kit (roadbook, identification marks),

• Medal for the "Finishers",

• Shirt,

 

2. Individual registration, how to relate to the registration of a team?

You can go back to your registration account and edit your team name, or add one.

 

3. I just registered for the HALF MDS PERU, could you tell me if you have a partner for cancellation insurance?

The organization does not include the trip during your stay, it is impossible to offer cancellation insurance.

Your payment has been made with your BANK CARD, contact your advisor at your bank to find out if your contract has contracted cancellation insurance and see the terms and conditions with it or there is also an online insurance to subscribe to when registering for HALF MDS: write Allianz, April, ...

 

4. I want to register for the 2019 edition, and I want more details about the payment method.

The online payment method is only by credit card and is offered in several monthly installments. However, if you wish to pay by bank transfer or other methods, send an email to the organization.

5. In my internet file, I can not download the medical certificate, is that normal?

The medical certificate will be available in September and will also be sent by email. This medical certificate must be completed by your doctor and must be presented during the medical check-ups, before the beginning of the race.

 

This document must be signed and dated less than 30 days before the start of the race.

 

6. In what language will the documents provided by the HALF MDS PERU organization be delivered?

All documents provided by the organization will be in 3 languages: French, English and Spanish

 

7. How are the different packages organized?

The classic package runs from November 30 to December 6, 2019:

Arrival in Lima and transfer to bivouac on November 30

Administration day on December 1st

3 stages in food self-sufficiency, from December 2 to December 5

Gala dinner and accommodation in Paracas on December 5

Return to Lima on December 6, end of the HMDS PERU experience

 

8. I would like to have some details about the flight you offer.

For now we only offer flights from Paris to Lima, as follows:

- November 30 (departure early in the morning, arrival in Lima at the end of the day)

- December 6  (departure in the morning, arrival in Paris the 7th)

The flight includes a stop on the way to Lima in Amsterdam (Paris - Amsterdam - Lima), and is direct on the way back (Lima-Paris).

It includes a luggage of 23 kg.

WARNING: these information might change, according to the flight company. We will provide you the exact information during the first quarter of 2019.

 

2. TRAVEL

1. Are flights difficult to find in the place? Is there a recommended flight?

The HMDS partner agency is available for flight inquiries.

 

Half a dozen flights depart daily from the main European capitals to LIMA. We let you freely choose the one that best suits you, enjoy the charms of this beautiful country before or after HALF MDS PERU, or even come with your family or friends.

2. When should we arrive at Lima?

On November 30, it is MENDATORY to arrive before 8pm in Lima. Further information will be sent to you once you're registered.

 

3. At what time are competitors released to reserve their return flight?

Competitors who have reserved the classic package will be in Lima at the beginning of the afternoon on December 6. They can book their return flight this afternoon.

 

4. Do you have any details about the transfer schedule between the airport and the bivouac to organize flight reservations?

The transfers from Lima to the Bivouac is approximately at 4:30.

The shuttles will be available on November 30 to join the bivouac.

 

 

5. What types of rooms does Double Tree Resort offer in Paracas?

The Double Tree Resort hotel chain offers different types of rooms. Participants will share rooms with other runners.

 

3. THE RACE

1. What is the program of the event?

November 30: Meeting at the airport / bus station in Lima. Address of the bivouac of the event on the night.

December 1: Arrival at the bivouac. Breakfast provided by the organization. Installation in the tents and administration day.

December 2: Stage 1 - about 30 km. Start of food self-sufficiency. Night at the bivouac

December 3 and 4: Stage 2 - 60 km and day of rest. Night at the bivouac.

December 5: Step 3 - about 30 km - end of the race and food self-sufficiency. Award Ceremony, gala evening, hotel accommodation in Paracas.

December 6: return to Lima

 

2. Can I know the detail in kilometers and the maximum time allowed for each stage?

The trajectory of HALF MDS PERU will be annouced at your arrival at the race, in the road book.

However, here is the program of steps to date:

Stage 1: maximum 30 km, maximum time allowed for 10 hours.

Stage 2 NON-STOP: approximately 60 km maximum allowed time of 28 hours.

Stage 3: maximum 30 km, maximum time allowed 10 hours.

 

3. I would like to know if we will receive a trip plan before HALF MDS PERU?

The roadbook will be delivered the day of the arrival of the competitors in Peru, however the information about the preparation and the organization will be sent by email before the event.

 

4. Is it feasible to walk instead of running during the HALF MDS PERU?

The times in the stages are wide to allow walkers to finish on time.

 

5. Will there be much difference in height?

They will be elevation gain, but not more than 2500 meters for the whole race.

 

6. Is the bivouac (camp) near the ocean? Can we swim there?

The bivouac might be close to the ocean, if the weather permits and under your full responsibility, you can go in the water. The organization will reject any claim related to a bathing issue.

 

7. Is there a risk of bad weather?

The days combine the warmth and the sun, the temperatures oscillate between 25 ° C and 30 ° C in average and although the climate is often cloudy, rains are very rare.

 

8. Will there be a medical team?

The priority of the organization is the safety of the competitor and, therefore, medical assistance will be present throughout the course.

 

9. Will there be labels and live tracking?

All competitors will be equipped with a tracking device that will allow live tracking on the official HALF MDS PERU website.

 

10. How is water management organized?

Food self-sufficiency will begin on December 2nd in the morning and end on Decembre 5th from the final arrival.

Water is provided by the organization completely during this period.

You will receive 5 liters of water at each end of the stage. The water replenishment will be done at the control points during the stages it is up to you to properly manage your water consumption.

 

4. THE MATERIAL

1. Are the stores individual or shared?

The stores are individual and provided by the organization.

The bivouac will be in a site previously chosen by the organization and competitors will benefit from a camp in numbered cells, each store is identified: a competitor maintains the same store from the beginning until the end of the event.

 

2. Assembly and disassembly of tents:

The assembly of the store will be done by the organization, the dismantling at the beginning of the last stage will be made by the competitor.

 

3. Is it possible to bring an additional bag or backpack, which the organization will keep at the beginning of the event and will be delivered at the end of the event?

The competitor may come with additional baggage, which will be supported by the organization after the technical checks. You will find him at the Paracas hotel after the race. During the race, there is no possibility of recovering this luggage.

 

4. Where could I find information regarding the technical aspects of the race?

Each months, participants of the HMDS PERU will receive newsletter including information on the race. However, feel free to contact us if you have any question.

 

5. For the nights, what should you wear as a sleeping bag?

The average temperature is 11 ° C, so you need a descent above 0 ° C.

It also favors the featherweight of the sleeping bag: Sleeping Jacket...

 

5. OTHER BUSINESSES

1. Where can I find the list of registered for HALF MDS PERU?

The list of competitors will be online on our website no later than October 31st.

 

2. Does HALF MDS PERU grant points for the UTMB?

The HALF MDS PERU does not grant points for the UTMB.

 

3. Can we represent the associations for which we run?

In the race for an association section you can complete the online form to advertise the association that you or your team supports.

 

5. Will there be HALF MDS PERU next year?

Yes, there will be other HALF MDS in the world that we are preparing, the places and dates will be communicated very soon.

 

6. CANCELLATION - REFUND

1. What is the procedure for the refund?

All reimbursements will be made no later than the month following the race, that is, no later than January 31. Your bank account will be credited through your credit card.

 

2-In case of cancellation, what are the terms of the return?

In case of cancellation for a competitor registered in the current edition, no other person can claim their replacement.

 

Cancellations of reservation requests, package declarations and refund requests must be made by registered letter to avoid any dispute.

In the case of fees already paid or the registration paid in full, the repayment periods are as follows:

· 100 euros will be retained for application fees in case of withdrawal until 31/07/19.

· 25% of all registration fees will be retained by the organization in case of withdrawal between 01/08/19 and 31/08/19.

· 50% of all registration fees will be retained by the organization in case of withdrawal between 01/09/19 and 31/10/19.

After the date of 10/31/19 at midnight, no refund request will be accepted.

Important: the organization strongly recommends each competitor to take out personal cancellation insurance. In case of cancellation, the organization accepts to reimburse the amounts collected according to the previous scale.

7. “HIKER” CATEGORY

1. What is the « Hiker » category?

The hiker category allows any hikers to embark on the adventure. The concept remains the same, live this food self-sufficiency adventure and share the bivouac with the other participants.  

Thanks to this new format, which is more suitable for hikers, the Ica desert is now accessible to everyone!

2. How is it different from the runner category?

What is different are the distances and more precisely the distance of the long stage for the hikers!

The distance of the long stage will be reduced and wider time barriers to be able to complete the stages on time.

3. What are the new distances in the hiker category?

The new distances in the hiker category are as follows:



-Stage 1: 30km

-Stage 2:
40km

-Stage 3:
25km



4. Will hikers and runners follow the same route, or will they have two different routes?

There are two different routes. Indeed, the long stage for walkers is a little different from the runner’s one.

5. Can hikers and runners share the same tent group?

Of course, you don't have the same distances on the race, but once the races are over, you can get together and share your tent group without any problems.

6. Is the price for the hiker category the same as for the runner category?

Yes, if you register as a walker or runner, the price remains the same.

7. Will the hiker category have its own ranking?

No, because some "hikers" will want to run a few kilometers, others will do all the stages while walking. It would be very complicated to make a fair ranking.

8. Can hikers run if they wish?

There is no ban for hikers, if they wish to run they can. It's according to your wishes.
